In the spring 2013 the Dutch mezzo-soprano Francine Vis completed her studies with Professor Kirsten Buhl Møller at the Royal Danish Opera Academy. She has taken masterclasses with amongst others Udo Reinemann, Felicity Palmer, Malcolm Martineau, Diane Montague, Barbara Hannigan and Fiona McSherry.
After her education she has jumped in several times as Cherubino at the Royal Danish Opera and she returns there as Pernille (Nielsen’s Maskarade 2016) and Cherubino (2017). Summer 2017 she had her Swedish debut in a leading role of Honourable Miss Gwendolen Fairfax in a new production of opera by B. Tommy Andersson ”The Importance of being Earnest” at Vadstena.
During the 2018/19 season, she sings the title role in Carmen at Danish National Opera, sings Christmas Oratorio by Bach with Aalborg Symhpny Orchestra a big lied concert at Stockholm Concert Hall and appears in a newly written opera about the Danish writer Elsa Gress with Nordic Opera Company.
In 2012 Francine sang the part of Flora in Verdis La Traviata at the Royal Danish Opera. In 2012/13 she sang Mercedes in Carmen also at the Royal Opera. Francine Vis was reinvited as soloist with the Athelas Sinfonietta in 2013 and 2014 and participated in the first production of a contemporary opera in Belgium in autumn 2013. She is a regular guest as soloist in The Messiah with Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir, has sung under the baton of Marc Soustrot in Malmö. In 2015 she sang a concert performance of La Traviata with Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra and was soloist with Copenhagen Phil. She also gave concerts with Asko Schönberg Ensemble in Holland and Belgium.
Francine Vis frequently performs with Silbersee, a vocal workshop for contemporary music, both theatrical and concert performances, under guidance of Romain Bischoff. In autumn 2013 she toured the Netherlands and Belgium with Vocaallab in a production called MCBTH.
In 2011 she sang the part of Amore in Monteverdis LIncoronazione di Poppea at The Royal Danish Opera Academy and the part of the Squirrel in Richard Ayres opera The Cricket Recovers, directed by Pierre Audi, for the Holland Festival 2011.
Francine Vis studied with Valérie Guillorit at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she received her master diploma with distinction in June 2009. She has got Diorapthe Award for the best performance of the obligatory modern piece written for the competition and the Händel Engagement Award, both in International Vocal Competition's-Hertogenbosch 2014. Also she won First prize together with pianist Christian Westergaard at the Copenhagen Lied Duo Competition 2015.
