Biography

Johanne Højlund is a Danish mezzo-soprano. She has studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Music (Copenhagen), The Royal Danish Opera Academy (Copenhagen), and The Stella Adler Studio of Acting (New York). 
 
During her studies at The Royal Danish Opera Academy Ms. Højlund sang Fortunata in “Satyricon”, Dinah in “Trouble in Tahiti”, Marthe in “Faust”, Polinesso in ‘Ariodante’, Olga in ‘Eugene Onegin’ and Cornelia in ‘Giulio Cesare’ among others. She has also sung Kate Pinkerton in ‘Madame Butterfly’ at The Royal Danish Opera, Maddalena in ‘Rigoletto’ at Haldenstein Schlossoper in Switzerland. She has been at The Norwegian National Opera in the 2017/18 season, where she has sung 2nd Lady in the ”The Magic Flute”, Alisa in ”Lucia di Lammermoor” and Flora in ”La Traviata”. Her roles also include Tisbe in ”Cenerentola” at The Danish National Opera, aswell as Ursula in ”Nothing” by David Bruce. In 2018 Johanne will return to The Danish National Opera to sing Krystina in ”Die Passagierin” and Carmen in ”Carmen”, and in 2019 she will among others sing Flosshilde in ”Das Rheingold” and Olga in ”Eugene Onegin”. 
 
Ms. Højlund is a frequently used oratorio soloist and has sung the alto part in Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, St. John Passion and the Christmas Oratorio, Mozart’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Dvorak’s Stabat Mater.
