Biography

Engin Suna was born in 1981 Izmir, Turkey. He completed his singing education at Çukurova University State Conservatory in Adana, Turkey with Roman Werlinsky, graduating wiht the first degree. He has participated to the Master Classes with Pavel Gerdjikov in Sofia.
 
He is a member of the Ensemble of Antalya State Opera and Ballet as a soloist from 2007. Roles performed include Don Basilio and Don Bartolo in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia in İzmir, Antalya and Samsun State Opera House,  Don Bartolo in Mozart’s Le nozze di FigaroColline  in La Boheme by Puccini, Sarastro in Mozart’s Die ZauberfloteRamphis in Verdi’s Aida in International Aspendos Opera Festival in 2017, the role of Raimondo from Donizetti’s opera Lucia di Lammermoor in International Aspendos Opera Festival in 2013, Osmin in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Leporello and Commandatore in Mozart’s Don GiovanniOsman in Mozart’s Zaide in 1st and 2nd International İstanbul Opera Festival, Doctor Grenvil in Verdi’s La Traviata, Monterone and Sparafucile in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Wodnik in Dvorak’s RusalkaKing Rene in Tschaikovsky’s Iolanta and Banquo in Verdi’s Macbeth.
 
Between his oratorio repertoire are Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy.
 

Engin Suna was elected one of best Opera Singer in 2014 (honorary award) by Semiha Berksoy Opera Fondation. He won the first prize in “International Young Musician Contest” in Sofia in 2000, the first prize in “Young Singers Competiton” in Izmir, Turkey which was organized by Alsancak Rotary Club and İzmir State Opera and Ballet on April 2010. He olso won the first prize in ”International Nodar Gabunia Gabunia Music Competition” in Tiblisi, Georgia in 2013 and won SemihaBerksoy (first female Turkish opera singer) Opera Awards /Istanbul-Turkey/ Honorary Award (2014).
