Biography

Danish baritone William Pedersen will be singing the role of Dr. Falke in a touring production of J. Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus this fall.
 
Recently, William sung the role of Figaro in “Le nozze di Figaro” at Bloomsbury Opera in London. Also during his time in London, William was bass-soloist in Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with LA Phil and Gustavo Dudamel in the Barbican Hall and Philharmonie de Paris and made his Wigmore Hall debut in a concert of Schubert part-songs with Graham Johnson.
 
On stage William has sung the roles of Belcore (L’elisir d’amore, München), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte, Copenhagen), Calchas (La belle Hélène, Copenhagen) Harasta (The cunning little vixen, Copenhagen) as well as a number of first performances, including the Baritone in F. Bayani Mabalot’s Stabat Mater in the Academy Concert Hall of RDAM.
 
As an oratorio soloist, Mr. Pedersen has performed Mozart’s Requiem, Fauré’s Requiem and Stainer’s The crucifixion.
 
He has multiple times performed as a soloist at the Copenhagen Opera Festival, Festival del alta Val Nervia in Italy and with the touring troupe GuidOpera.
 
William Pedersen was born in a musical home as the son of two professional opera singers. It was not until his teens that he deliberately started his musical education at Sankt Annæ Gymnasium followed by MGK at Musikhøjskolen Frederiksberg as a classically trained baritone under the tutelage of Lars Waage.
 
2013-2016 he continued his studies with a bachelor’s degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Music with Prof. Kirsten Buhl Møller, before going abroad.
 
William spent one year in the Konzertgesang programme at Hochschule für Musik und Theater München learning with KS Prof. Andreas Schmidt and subsequently graduated from Guildhall School of Music and Drama with an Artist’s Master of Music under the tutelage of Christine Cairns and Prof. Susan McCulloch with whom he is still working.
 
Additionally, William has taken masterclasses with esteemed tutors such as KS Bo Skovhus, Prof. Yvonne Kenny, Gitta-Maria Sjöberg, Olaf Bär and Malcolm Martineau.
