Biography

Recent and upcoming ungagements of Mr. Del Castillo include Sharpless Madama Butterfly (Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona, Opera de Bilbao, Opera de Oviedo), Rodrigo Don Carlo (Teatros del Canal, Madrid), Figaro Il barbiere di Siviglia (ABAO Bilbao), Rigoletto (Ópera de Oviedo), Rigoletto (Teatro Cervantes de Málaga),  Palémon Thaïs (Liceu Barcelona), Maerbale Bomarzo (Teatro Real Madrid), Ping Turandot (Les Arts, Valencia), Guglielmo Così fan tutte (Teatro Cervantes de Málaga). Future engagements will bring him again to Barcelona (Thais & Un ballo in maschera) and Madrid (Bomarzo & Dead Man Walking).
 
Recent engagements have brought him again to Teatro Real Madrid, Liceu Barcelona and Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville. He has recently participated in the first recording of Usandizaga’s opera La Llama for Deutsche Grammophon. Last season he has performed as Rodrigo in Don Carlo in Madrid and Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Bilbao. He will be making his debut as Rigoletto in February 2017 for Ópera de Oviedo.
 
His other operatic engagements are Ben The telephone Menotti (Teatro de la Maestranza Seville), Germont La traviata (Teatro Sao Carlos, Lisbon), Malatesta Don Pasquale, Enrico Lucia di Lammermoor, Aeneas Dido and Aeneas, Conte Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro, Papageno Die Zauberflöte.
 
Damián del Castillo has collaborated with renowned conductors as Michel Plasson, Renato Palumbo, Aldo Ceccato, Antonello Allemandi, Antoni Ros Marbá, Yves Abel, Jean-Yves Ossonce, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Massimo Zanetti, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Inma Shara, Keri Lynn Wilson, Arturo Díez, Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez, Lorenzo Ramos, Cristóbal Soler, Alejo Pérez, Pedro Halffter and with stage directors as Emilio Sagi, José Carlos Plaza, Willy Decker, Calixto Bieito, Bruno Berger, Francisco López, Tomás Muñoz, Mario Pontiggia or Pier Luigi Pizzi.
 
Damián del Castillo has performed in many important theatres such as Teatro Real and Teatro de la Zarzuela both in Madrid; Sala Toscanini of Teatro alla Scala in Milano, Liceu Barcelona, Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, Sao Carlos in Lisbon, Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao, Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo, Pérez Galdós in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Teatro Cervantes in Málaga, Teatro Villamarta in Jerez, Palacio de Festivales in Santander, Mezquita-Catedral in Córdoba and Museo del Prado in Madrid.
  

He has often been invited by Teatro Nacional de Zarzuela in Madrid where he has performed in El JuramentoLa Verbena de la Paloma and Arrieta’s opera Marina
