Biography

Cassandra Lemoine made her Royal Danish Opera debut as Papagena in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in 2017 and her Canadian professional opera debut in 2013 as Cis in Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring with Pacific Opera Victoria. Cassandra recently returned to the Canadian stage as Johanna in Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd with Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre in Victoria. This season Cassandra will be singing Christine Daae in Andrew Lloyd Webbers The Phantom of the Opera at Det Ny Teater in Copenhagen.
 
Since 2016, Cassandra has been a member of the Opera Academy at The Royal Danish Opera where she has sung Zerbinetta in Richard Strauss's Ariadne auf NaxosOberto in Handel's Alcina, Dalinda in Handel’s Ariodante, Madame Herz in Mozart's Der Schauspieldirektor and Lucia in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia. Upcoming roles for her final year at the Academy include Ophélie in Ambroise’s HamletGretel in Humperdinck's Hansel and GretelSophie in Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier, Drusilla in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea
 
Cassandra made her American debut with The Bach Festival in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where they performed and recorded Bach Cantata 21 'Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis' and Handel's 'Ode on St. Cecilia's Day' with Canadian recording label Analekta Records. In the UK, Cassandra sang Papagena in Die Zauberflöte and Hebe in Rameau's Les Indes Galantes. In Portugal, Cassandra sang Zabel in Alfredo Keil's A Serrana, a Portuguese opera, at the Zezere Arts Festival. Previous roles in Canada include Madame Herz in Der Schauspieldirektor (Mozart), Hanne in The Merry Widow (Lehar), Belinda Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), and Kuchtík Rusalka (Dvořák) at Opera NUOVA.
 

She is in high demand as a concert soloist for both Baroque music and contemporary music. Cassandra recently made her soloist debut with Concerto Copenhagen with Bach's Wedding Cantata, and she is an annual soloist with Camerata Øresund led by concertmaster Peter Spissky.
