Biography

Recent and upcoming egagements of Mexican tenor Fabian Lara includes Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) in Theater Basel conducting Giampaolo Bisanti and direction by Olivier Py, Alfredo (La Traviata) at Busseto (Festival Verdi, Teatro Regio di Parma), Duca di Mantova (Rigoletto) at Teatro Cervantes de Málaga and Amigos de la Ópera de Vigo (Spain), Cavaradossi (Tosca) at Opera de Oviedo, Messaggero (Aida) and Ruiz (Trovatore) at Teatro Real de Madrid, Messaggero (Aida), Manfredo (I vespri siciliani), Liverotto (Lucrezia Borgia) at Palau de les Arts (Valencia).
 
He has worked with conductors such as as Roberto Abbado, Nicola Luisotti, Zubin Mehta, Giampaolo Bisanti, Fabio Biondi, Maurizio Benini, Henrik Nánási, Antonello Manacorda, Ramón Tebar, Sebastiano Rolli, Pablo González and hase worked with stage directors such as David McVicar, Davide Livermore, Olivier Py, Emilio Sagi, Hugo de Ana, Jean-Louis Grinda, Arnaud Bernard, Francisco Negrín, Andrea Bernard.
 
Mr. Lara was part of the world premiere of the Mexican opera “Nuestro Tresguerras” performing the role of Albino Garcia. He has also played Roberto in “Le Villi” by G Puccini, Nemorino in “L’elisir d’amore” by G. Donizzeti, and the soloist tenor in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Fabian had his international debut in the concert SummerNight at the Opera organized by Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
 
Fabián Lara began his studies at School of Fine Arts in Tultepec, Mexico. Subsequently, he started a bachelor’s degree in Opera Performance at Escuela Superior de Musica under the tutelage of countertenor Hector Sosa. He have had masterclasses with Plácido Domingo, Gregory Kunde, Ramón Vargas and Javier Camarena.
 
He has won several competitions in Mexico and abroad such as the Lyric Singing Contest in Morelos, Mexico, first price in XVI Maritza Aleman Singing Contest in Mexico, second prize in Opera San Miguel in Mexico, first prize in Sinaloa’s International Contest 2013, first prize in National Singing Contest Carlos Morelli 2013, the International Singing prize in Les Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques in Montreal, Canada, and first price in the International Contest Hariclea Darcleé in Romania.
