Magnus Vigilius graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2001 with degree in singing and drama.
Among his current and recent roles are opening the Janáček festival in Brno with the role of Boris in Kat´a Kabanová with Robert Carsen as stage director, Erik in Fliegende Holländer at “Opera on Skäret”, tour with Danish National Opera and Siegmund in Wagner’s Walküre.
His future engagements include Steva in Opera de Dijon, Opera de Caen, Royal Opera Stockholm and Teatro Regio in Torino as well as Cavaradossi at National Theatre in Brno.
In 2015/16 season he among others appears at Scottish Opera and Danish National Opera in the role of Steva in Jenufa and in Langaards Antichrist at the Langaard Festival and Pinkerton in Brno. He also appears in numerous Gala Concerts with Odense and Aalborg Symphony Orchestras, and as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at Danish National Opera.
As a concert soloist, Magnus has performed with such orchestras as The Royal Danish Orchestra, Odense Symphony Orchestra, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, and Randers Chamber Orchestra.
In 2007-2010 Magnus was engaged as a soloist with The Funen Opera and performed in well known operas such as La boheme (Rodolfo), Carmen (Don Jose),Madama Butterfly (Pinkerton) as well as in first productions of contemporary Danish operas.
From 2012 he has been working intensively with the dramatic German opera-repertoire, thus developing his heldentenor-voice.
He was improving his vocal while studying with Tonny Landy (Denmark) 2010-2014, Stig Fogh Andersen (Denmark) 2012-2013 and Professor Douglas Yates (USA) 2001-2010. Since 2014 he has been studying with Elena Batoukova Kerl and Torsten Kerl in Essen, Germany.
In spring 2010 he received The Funen Opera´s Lars Waage price and in May 2014 Magnus won 2nd prize and The Orchestra´s prize in The Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition.
