South Korean tenor Jung Soo Yun studied at the Yonsei University in Seoul‚ at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama‚ and at the International Academy of Voice‚ Cardiff University under Dennis O’Neill CBE and Peter Alexander Wilson.
Hailed in Opera Now Magazine as a Rising Star‚ he was First prize winner of the Montserrat Caballé International Singing Competition (September 2011)‚ Richard Tauber Prize (2010)‚ the Stuart Burrows International Voice Award (2010) and Les Azuriales Opera competition in France (2010).
Recent and future plans include Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Italian Singer (Rosenkavalier) in Opera North and Alfredo (La traviata) in Westgreen Opera in UK. In the fall 2017 he will sing Rinuccio at Gothenburg Opera and in the spring 2018 he returns to Danish National opera as Alfredo in Traviata. 
Other engagements include Lensky Eugene Onegin (Grange Park Opera)‚ Rodolfo La boheme (Den Jyske Opera‚ Denmark)‚ Mainfroid and covering Henri in Verdi’s Les Vêpres siciliennes (Royal Opera House)‚ Macduff Macbeth (Opera North)‚ Nadir Les pêcheurs de perles‚ Rinuccio Gianni Schicchi‚ Trin La fanciulla del West and Flavio Norma (Opera Holland Park)‚ Ruggero La Rondine (Go Opera/ Opera di Peroni)‚ as well as covering Raimbaud Robert le Diable (ROH)‚ Faust (title role) for Opera North and Werther (title role) for Scottish Opera. In 2013 he made his Wigmore Hall solo recital debut‚ a programme of Schubert‚ Liszt‚ Strauss and Korean Art Songs with pianist Joseph Middleton and performed on BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night and BBC Radio 3’s In Tune.
Among Yun’s last works are Edgardo Lucia di Lammermoor (Clonter Opera)‚ the title role Werther (Les Azuriales Opera‚ Nice)‚ Hoffmann Les Contes d’Hoffmann‚ Prince The Love for Three Oranges and Lensky Eugene Onegin (RSAMD) and Remendado Carmen (Clonter Opera). He has performed for Prince Charles at St. James’ Palace and has appeared as a guest artist in Dame Kiri Te Kanawa’s Christmas Concert at Cadogan Hall in London. 
Jung Soo’s Oratorio repertoire includes Verdi Requiem‚ Puccini Messa di Gloria‚ Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle‚ Mendelssohn Elijah and Haydn Creation.
