Biography

Born in 1978 in Magnitogorsk (Russia) Elena Mikhailenko finished Magnitogorsk Glinka Music College (1997), graduated from Magnitogorsk State Conservatory (2001) and Moscow State Conservatory (2003). Ms. Mikhailenko finished her education at the Gnesin’s Academy of Music.
 
Her debut took place in 2006 when she became part of the Helikon-Opera in Moscow. On the stage of New Israel Opera (Tel Aviv) she sang Katerina Izmailova in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk.
 
Among her upcoming and recent engagements in 2017 – title roles in premiere of Turandot at Helikon-opera in Moscow and premiere of La Gioconda in Malmö, Sweden. Also in autumn of 2017 she is singing role of Katerina Izmailova (Lady Macbeth)in Santiago (Chille) and La Gioconda in Innsbruck (Austria).
 
In 2016 she sang Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk in San Paulo (Brazil).
 
In 2007 she performed Aida in Dmitry Bertman’s production of G. Verdi’s Aida in coproduction between Helikon-Opera and Opera de Massy in France and in 2014 she sang Katerina Izmailova in Teatro Communale di Bologna.
 
Besides that, she has among others been singing Tosca (Tosca), Juliette (Les Contes d’Hofmann), Lisa (The Queen of Spades), Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), Vitellia (Titus), Isabella (Das Liebesverbot) and Amelia (Un ballo in maschera) as part of the soloist ensemble at Helikon-Opera.
 
She has participated in many international vocal contests, including "Shabyt" (Kazakhstan) in 2003, "Bella Voce" (Moscow) in 2005, also in Russian N. Obukhova contest (Lipetsk) in 2006. In 2009 she become a laureate of the Glinka International Vocal Contest in Moscow.
