Biography

 
Sofie Jensen was born in 1985 in Slagelse, Denmark and studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Music (2005-2008) and at The Opera Academy (2008-2011), both in Copenhagen.
 
Sofie Jensen sang Laetitia in Menotti's "The Old Maid and the Thief" at The Royal Theatre in Copenhagen in the season 2013/14, and for that the Reumert committee nominated her “Singer of the year”.
 
She has been invited back as a guest soloist to The Royal Theatre every season since her debut as Papagena in the season 2010/11, during which she also sang the main role as Blanche in Poulenc's "Les Dialogues des Carmélites".
 
In March 2011 she performed Drusilla/Fortuna in Monteverdi’s “L’incoronazione di Poppea”, in the season 2012/13 she sang The Cunning Little Vixen in Janacek’s opera “The Cunning Little Vixen”, Frasquita in "Carmen", and Sister Osmina/Novice in Puccini's "Suor Angelica".
 
In the season 2014/15 she will perform the opera “It’s for kids” and in the season 2015/16 she will sing in The Royal Theatres big cross over project, “Horisonten”.
 
Ms. Jensen performed Susanna in “Le nozze di Figaro” the summer 2012 at The Royal Theatre’s Ofelia Beach with the opera company “Nontardar”. They has since toured around Denmark; Copenhagen Opera Festival, Aalborg Opera Festival, Odsherred Music Festival and The Fynske Opera to name some.
In April 2012 Sofie had her debut at Kiel Oper as Princess Lusa in the first performance of the children’s opera “Kalif Storch”.
 
In March 2012 she had her debut at The National Opera in Denmark as Zerlina in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”.
 
In the 2014/15 season Sofie sang Juliette in Gounods ”Romeo et Juliette” at Copenhagen Opera Festival, Adina with GuidOpera and with Jospeh Calleja and Copenhagen Phil during Tivoli Music Festival, during which she was awarded the Folmer Jensen Music Prize.
 
In 2014/15 Ms. Jensen will also receive the prestigious award Aalborg Opera Award, and will perform Delius’ songs and Rutters Magnificat with Sønderjyllands Symphony Orchestra, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with Randers Chamber Orchestra and Messiah with Aalborg Symphony Orchestra.
In 2013/14 she sang Preciosa in Reesens “Farinelli” with Copenhagen Phil and performed concerts with Malmö Symphony Orchestra.
 
From 2011-2013 she had her debut in Scotland with RSNO in Gorecki´s 3rd Symphony, sang the parts as Musetta and Euridice during Copenhagen Opera Festival and sang the parts as Gabriel/Eva in Haydn’s “Der Schöpfung” with Sønderjyllands Symphony Orchestra.
