Biography

Danish tenor Jonathan Koppel has got his Bachelor-degree from The Royal Danish Academy Of Music in 2015. He also studied privately with the internationally renowned operasinger, Reinaldo Macias.
 
He had his first experience with the opera stage at the age of only 5 in Copenhagen, contributing to The Royal Operas production of Madama Butterfly in the role of Cio-Cio-Sans child, Dolore.
 
In the years to come The Fox in ”The Cunning Little Vixen” as a final project at RDAM, Normanno in ”Lucia di Lammermoor” with Opera Hedeland, Torquemada in ”L´Heure Espagnole” with The Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, Gastone in ”La Traviata” with The Nordic Opera and Fellmark in Weyses national opera, ”A Fairy Tale” In The Gardens Of Rosenborg, at the annual Copenhagen Opera Festival are awaitening him.
 
Operetta roles include Feri in ”Die Csárdásfürstin”, St. Brioche in ”Die Lustige Witwe” and ”Die Fledermaus” as Dr. Blind with The Danish Operetta Company.
 
Koppel is a much sought-after oratorio soloist in his homeland, with his repertoire including Händel’s ”Messiah”, Puccini’s ”Messa di Gloria”, Mozart’s ”Requiem” as well as all of his Masses and works by Bach, Franck, Haydn and Rossini.
 
Koppel’s recitals consist of programmes with opera & operetta, Lieder mostly by Schubert, Schumann, Richard Strauss and Beethoven, Italian da camera songs and spanish canciones.
 
In 2012 Jonathan was called for to sing for Her Royal Highness Crown-Princess Mary in a charity performance. He sings regularly at New Years Concerts in The Royal Court Theatre in Copenhagen and at other entertainment venues across the country. He is receiver of several prizes and scholarships.
 

Jonathan is born into the musical dynasty of the Koppel family, headed by his great-grandfather, the composer and concert pianist, Herman D.
