Biography

Jeffrey Hartman, American born tenor from Indiana is the 2011 Wagner Society of New York Award winner.
 
His future engagements include Jean in Meyerbeer’s Le Profete at the Landesteater Linz and Turridu/Canio at the Immling Festival.
 
In 2018 Mr. Hartman sang at Musica Viva Hong Kong as Pinkerton after making his Poland and role debut as Don José in Carmen with Opera Wrocławska.   
 
Mr. Hartman made his European debut in the 2016/2017 season at Die Theater Chemnitz singing the role of Calaf in Turandot, where they describe Mr. Hartman, "...the American tenor was immaculate with his soft warm timbre..." The Chemnitzer Morgenpost - Victoria Winkel and in 2017/2018 season returned to Chemnitz for the reprisal of Turandot. The same season Mr. Hartman debuted the role of Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut with Theater Osnabrück and made his UK debut with Northern Ireland Opera and the Ulster Symphony Orchestra in Ulster Hall in Belfast Ireland in the role of Rodolfo in La boheme.
 
Mr. Hartman joined the roster of Lyric Opera of Chicago in 2015, where he covered the role of Cavaradossi (Tosca). Following his time with Lyric Opera of Chicago, he made his house and role debut as Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos) with Seattle Opera where he also sang with the Seattle Youth Symphony as the tenor soloist in Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde. Mr. Hartman then went on to perform the same role in another production of Ariadne auf Naxos with Palm Beach Opera after singing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the South Florida Symphony.
 
Other roles he has performed includes Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Rodolfo (La boheme), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), the title role in Faust, Malcolm (Macbeth), Ismaële (Nabucco), Alfredo (La traviata), Danielle in (La tristezza), Nardo and Lampionaio (Raconto Fiorintino) and Edwin (The Gypsy Princess).

Concert highlights for Mr. Hartman include concerts with the Church on the Hill in Boston, Boston Lyric Opera and Dicapo Opera Theatre. He was the tenor soloist in Elijah, The Creation, Carmina Burrana with the Masterworks Chorale of NY and was a featured artist for the Italian Festival with Italia Unita.

Mr. Hartman’s many awards and honors include the 2011 winner of the Wagner Society of New York; second place in the Peter Elvin’s Competition, First place in the Dicapo Opera Theatre Competition, first place in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Advance Graduate Division, and the Ralph Appleman Award. He previously participated in the young artist program of Indianapolis Opera and Sarasota Opera. Mr Hartman is also an advocate for awareness of Huntington’s Disease and ALS, and frequently performs at fundraising events and concerts.
