Biography

The Norwegian soprano Synne Vinje’s voice was recently described as “a soprano voice that spans from dark ebony to bright brilliance, suitable for the lyric dramatic opera roles”.

Over the past years, she has had the opportunity to study with many skilled artists such as Karl-Magnus Fredriksson, Ulrika Tenstam, Patricia McCaffrey, Yngve Søberg, Asmik Grigorian, Bo Skovhus, Susanna Eken, Randi Stene, David Jones, Barbara Bonney and Toril Carlsen.

Synne has participated in multiple productions during the course of her studies. In her 2021 exam production she performed as Mimì in the 3rd act of Puccini’s La Bohème. During 2020-2021 she has sung excerpts from several operas, among others as Anne Trulove (Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress), Marguerite (Gounod’s Faust) and Adriana (Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur). She also performed as Adele (Strauss’ Die Fledermaus), at the Oslo Academy of the Arts during spring 2021. In the fall of 2020, Synne was an intern at the Royal Swedish Opera as Paggio in Rigoletto. In 2019 she sung the role Lisette and covered the title role Magda in a production of Puccini’s La Rondine at the Lidal North International Opera Workshop in Oslo.

Synne works as a freelance singer in a variety of contexts. Among other things, she has been a soloist at the 100th anniversary gala dinner of the Chambre de Commerce Franco-Norvégienne, and for the Nordea and Telenor cultural programmes. She has also been a soloist at the main stages of the Stockholm Concert House, at Kungliga Musikaliska Akademien and of Ulriksdal Castle Theatre Confidencen in Stockholm.

Synne completed her studies at the University College of the Arts’ Opera Department in Stockholm in May 2021, under the tutelage of Swedish mezzo-soprano Ulrika Tenstam. During the last year she has also been coached by Swedish Royal Court Singer Karl-Magnus Fredriksson. Her Bachelor’s degree in performing classical singing was completed at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo in 2018. In 2021 Synne is continuing her opera studies with a one-year Master’s degree at the Stockholm University of the Arts.

Currently, Synne is studying the roles of Donna Anna (Mozart’s Don Giovanni), Liù (Puccini’s Turandot) and Tatyana (Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin).
